Providing a Fine Arts Education to Children

Harmony Youth Theater was created to bring quality Fine Arts education to students in the Chicago Northwest suburbs. Participating in the Performing Arts develops many aspects of a child’s development. Theater provides an outlet for making creative choices, thinking of new ideas and expressing ones inner thoughts. Taking risks during the rehearsal and performance process teaches students to trust their ideas and abilities. This process raises student’s self awareness and confidence. Acting roles from different plays, time periods, and view points promotes compassion and tolerance for other cultures. Participation in theater strengthens verbal and nonverbal expression. Actors work on diction, fluency of language, style of speech and interpretation of the written word. Participating in theater provides positive experiences that promote life long skills for actors. |
