Harmony's Mission StatementHarmony was started to provide children in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago a place to experience the arts. Harmony Youth Theater strives to create inclusive educational experiences for creative youth. Our goal is to develop children’s talents in all aspects of theater in order to increase expression, strengthen creative thinking, enhance team work and bolster self confidence.

Sarah is a hard working, dedicated and student centered teacher and director who has a passion for the Fine Arts. She has worked with preschool - high school students for the last 15+ years. Sarah created Harmony Youth Theater to bring high quality accessible Theater Education to children in the Northwest Chicago suburbs. Sarah believes that a child is able to not only improve their individual skills, but find self-confidence, experience the self-pride of accomplishment of a job well done, and experience teamwork by participating in the fine arts.
Sarah holds a Masters in Directing from The Theatre Conservatory at Roosevelt University and a Bachelor of the fine arts in Theatre Education from Northern Illinois University. Along with her bachelor degree, she has a minor in English with an emphasis in History of Theatre and Classical Literature. Sarah studied the English Renaissance and Shakespeare at Oxford University, Oriel college with Dr. Glen Black.
Along with her professional degrees, Sarah has extensive specialized training from a number of professional coaches. She is a Meisner Trained Actor who studied under Kathryn Gatley, founder of the Gately Poole Acting Conservatory in New York. Michael Kachingwe trained Sarah in the Arthur Lessac Vocal technique, and Deborah Robertson trained her in the Lloyd Williamson movement technique. Sarah studied improvisational acting at Second City’s Players Workshop with Eric Forsberg. While receiving her Masters in Directing, Sarah studied with directors from Steppenwolf Theatre, Goodman Theatre and Chicago Shakespeare Theatre. Sarah has experience in directing and producing shows at the Elementary, Junior and High School levels.
Along with her training, Sarah has taught in the public and private schools since 2001 and holds a Secondary Teaching certificate through the state of IL. She has taught in districts such as High School District 214, Highland Park District 112 and Lake Zurich District 95. She was also the Department Head of Musical Theater at Metropolis School of the Performing Arts. As a choir teacher, Sarah’s ensembles performed 3 concerts a year and received Superior ratings at the High Notes Musical Festival three years in a row. Her choir ensemble performed at Ravinia and were asked to film a public service announcement with jazz legend Ramsey Lewis.
